Software Developer - Backend Services

TELUS is looking for a Backend Software Developer to join our digital platforms team in Calgary. You'll build and maintain the backend services that power TELUS's customer-facing applications, working with microservices, APIs, and cloud infrastructure at scale. This is an excellent opportunity to work on systems that serve millions of users. You'll design scalable backend solutions, write clean and efficient code, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with frontend developers and product teams. Working in an agile environment, you'll contribute to the full software development lifecycle from design to deployment. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience • 3-5 years of backend development experience • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, Node.js, or Go) • Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design • Knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) • Experience with databases (both SQL and NoSQL) • Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills • Experience with agile development methodologies • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
